José Manuel Echandi Meza is a Costa Rican lawyer and politician, born on April 8, 1964, in San José. He served as a deputy in the Legislative Assembly from 2006 to 2010 and held the position of Defensor de los Habitantes. Echandi was a presidential candidate and a deputy candidate for the Unión Nacional Party in the 2006 elections, and again ran for deputy in 2014 for the National Advancement Party. He also ran for mayor of San José in the 2016 municipal elections representing the National Integration Party.
