José Margulies, also known as José Lázaro, is an Argentine-born Brazilian businessman, executive, and principal shareholder of Valente Corp. and Somerton Ltd., companies specializing in sports marketing and event management. He emigrated to Brazil at a young age and worked for over twenty years at Traffic Group, focusing on the sale and marketing of sports management and broadcasting rights. In 2004, he was a key figure for J. Hawilla, the influential founder of Traffic Group. In May 2015, he faced corruption charges in the U.S. and was sentenced in January 2020 to two years of probation for his involvement in the Fifagate scandal.
