José Miguel Alemán Healy is a Panamanian politician born on May 8, 1956, in Panama City. He grew up in Washington, DC, where his father served as a negotiator for important treaties. A founding member of the Arnulfista Party, he first ran for a National Assembly position in 1994 and later served as foreign minister from 1999 to 2003. He was a presidential candidate in the 2004 election, obtaining 16% of the vote. Alemán has held roles on Panama's foreign relations council and currently works in fiduciary services.
