José Miguel Beñarán Ordeñana, also known as Argala, was a prominent member of Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (ETA) and a key Marxist-Leninist ideologue during and after the Franco era in Spain. Born on March 7, 1949, in Arrigorriaga, he played a crucial role in shaping ETA's strategic direction in the 1970s. He was involved in the assassination of Admiral Luis Carrero Blanco. His life was cut short when he was killed by a bomb on December 21, 1978, in Anglet, which created significant shock within Basque society.
