José Cardoso Morgado Júnior was a prominent Portuguese mathematician born on February 17, 1921, in Pegarinhos, Alijó. He graduated in Mathematical Sciences in 1944 and began his teaching career in 1942. After facing political persecution in 1947, he taught privately for 13 years before immigrating to Brazil in 1960. He worked at the University of Recife until 1974 and later returned to Portugal, becoming a professor at the University of Porto until his retirement in 1991. His research mainly focused on Number Theory and Lattice Theory.
