José Ramiro Suárez Soruco, born on March 16, 1939, in Cochabamba, Bolivia, is an expert in paleozoic biostratigraphy and invertebrate paleontology. He served as executive president of YPFB and held various academic positions across South America. A founding member of the Alcide D'Orbigny Natural History Museum, he contributed to research in human evolution and astronomy post-retirement. He is a member of the Bolivian National Academy of Sciences and received the Robert Dott Memorial Award in 1997 for his contributions to geology and paleontology.
