José Turpín Molina is a Spanish diplomat born on March 14, 1948, in Murcia. He is the current ambassador of Spain to Iraq. He graduated in Economics and joined the diplomatic service in 1982. Turpín has worked in Spanish diplomatic missions in the United Arab Emirates, Iran, and Colombia, and held deputy chief positions in Iran and India. He was appointed Spain's first ambassador to Afghanistan from 2006 to 2010 after creating a permanent diplomatic mission there.
