Josef Hycl was a Czech ophthalmologist known for his expertise in eye micro-surgery, particularly refractive and cataract surgery. He pioneered the use of femtosecond laser technology in the Czech Republic and conducted over 10,000 cataract surgeries and 18,000 other eye operations. In addition to his surgical work, Hycl was a lecturer, author, and member of various medical societies. He co-founded multiple ophthalmic clinics and was recognized internationally for his contributions to ophthalmology before passing away in 2011.
