Josef Petrak was an Austrian lyricist and composer born on January 16, 1908, in Vienna. He wrote numerous lyrics for Viennese songs and hits, including for films by Géza von Bolváry like Lumpacivagabundus, Die heimliche Gräfin, and Zwischen Strom und Steppe. One of his most famous works is the 1953 song 'Wie Böhmen noch bei Öst’reich war,' especially popularized by Peter Alexander. Petrak was also a founding member of the Association of Austrian Lyricists (VOET) and contributed as a composer, though to a lesser extent.
