Josef Rösch was a prominent researcher and pioneer in vascular and interventional radiology. He served as the first director of the Dotter Interventional Institute until 1995. Known for his significant contributions, Rösch developed the TIPS procedure in 1969 and was instrumental in incorporating embolization into the treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding in 1971. With a career spanning over fifty years, he authored more than 470 scientific papers and contributed to numerous book chapters and scientific exhibits.
