Josef Tauber, born on July 8, 1940, in Großpetersdorf, is a retired Austrian politician from the SPÖ and former union secretary. He served as a member of the Burgenland Parliament from 1982 to 1993 and as Landesrat from 1993 to 1999. Tauber, who trained as a mason and worked in various construction roles, was also the mayor of Großpetersdorf from 1982 to 1993. He remained active in local politics and was appointed vice-mayor in 2012. Tauber is recognized as the oldest and longest-serving politician in Burgenland.
