Josep Juncà i Albert was a Catalan musician and composer born on December 25, 1916, in Tarragona. He studied music under mossèn Tàpies and Salvador Ritort i Faus. He was the nephew of composer Antoni Juncà i Soler and wrote five sardanes, traditional Catalan dances. A music teacher and choral director, he also contributed to music journalism. Juncà's life was cut short in December 1937 when he died at the front during the Spanish Civil War, leaving a legacy in Catalan music.
