Josep Maria Matamala i Alsina, known as Jami Matamala, is a Catalan businessman and politician born in Girona on August 15, 1957. A member of Convergència Democràtica de Catalunya since 1976, he served as a city councilor in Girona from 1987 to 1995. He is recognized for supporting President Carles Puigdemont during his exile in Belgium. In 2019, he was elected senator for Girona, representing Junts per Catalunya. Matamala's family is known for their role in promoting the Catalan language during Franco's regime, and he later focused on his business ventures in event organization and printing.
