Joseph Ball Costello is an American executive known for his influential role in the electronic design automation (EDA) industry. Born on December 6, 1953, he served as president and COO of SDA Systems from 1987 to 1988. He then became the CEO of Cadence Design Systems from 1988 to 1997, during which time the company grew to become the largest in the EDA sector. Costello's leadership significantly impacted the landscape of electronic design automation.
