Joseph F. Keithley was an American entrepreneur and the founder of Keithley Instruments, established in Cleveland in 1946. He obtained his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from MIT. After working at Bell Telephone Laboratories and the Naval Ordnance Lab, he invented an underwater mine launching device, earning a distinguished service award from the Navy. Keithley's initial product, a low-frequency amplifier, led to further innovations, including an electrometer, which significantly contributed to his company's success. He had three children with his wife Nancy and received numerous accolades throughout his career.
