He became notable as the first President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Republic of the Congo and later served as a deputy prime minister and senator. A leader in Patrice Lumumba's MNC party, he played a significant role in Congolese politics during the transition to independence. Kasongo remained a loyal supporter of Lumumba during political upheavals, advocating for the continued functioning of Parliament after its adjournment. He passed away on October 19, 1990.
