Joseph Kentgens, also known as Joop, was a Dutch resistance fighter during World War II, notably active in Zoetermeer. He led a group that provided refuge to Jews and Allied pilots. Post-war, he resumed his dental practice, became a city councilor in Zoetermeer, and received several honors for his wartime bravery, including the Medal of Freedom from the United States. Later, he moved to Ireland and then South Africa before spending his last years in Belgium, where he died in 2009.
