Joseph-Marie Verlinde, originally named Jacques Verlinde, is a French Catholic priest and the founder and prior of the Family of Saint Joseph. In the 1970s, he began practicing Transcendental Meditation and later experienced a 'meeting with Christ' in a Himalayan ashram. He returned to France, moving towards a Christic esotericism before returning to the faith of the Catholic Church. Verlinde is highly critical of New Age movements and new religiosities, authoring books and giving talks based on his experiences to guide others away from misleading paths.
