Joseph R. Donovan Jr. is a former American diplomat who served as the United States Ambassador to Indonesia from 2017 to 2020. He graduated from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and holds a master's degree from the Naval Postgraduate School. Donovan's career includes roles as a Peace Corps volunteer in South Korea, various positions in the U.S. Foreign Service in Qatar, Taiwan, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs. He also served as a Foreign Policy Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
