Josephine Kakooza was a pioneering Ugandan police officer, known for her role as the Police Band leader and as the Commissioner of Police. Born on June 8, 1955, she made history in December 2011 when she became the first woman to be appointed Director of Music in the Uganda Police Force. In addition to her leadership, Kakooza was also a talented composer and flute player, contributing significantly to the musical legacy of the police force. She passed away on January 9, 2019.
