She was known as the mother of Jesus Mari Zabarte, an ETA prisoner, and was the aunt of Pakito Arriaran. Arregi dedicated her life to advocating for political prisoners and embodied the image of a mother of these individuals, symbolizing their plight. She also served as the president of the Etxerat association, which supports imprisoned and exiled ETA members.
