Joy Davidman (born Helen Joy Davidman on April 18, 1915 - July 13, 1960) was an American poet and writer, often referred to as the 'child prodigy.' She earned an MA in English Literature from Columbia University in 1935 and won several poetry awards, including the Yale Series of Younger Poets competition in 1938. After her marriage to William Lindsay Gresham and subsequent conversion to Christianity, she moved to England with her children. Davidman's most famous work, 'Smoke on the Mountain,' was published in 1954. She became the second wife of author C.S. Lewis before her death from cancer in 1960.
