Jože Kalan is a Slovenian military officer and helicopter pilot, born on February 21, 1952, in Trbovlje. He is a veteran of the Ten-Day War for Slovenia and serves as a major in the 15th Helicopter Battalion of the Slovenian Army. Kalan is best known for his defection from the Yugoslav People's Army in 1991, during which the Territorial Defense of Slovenia acquired its first helicopter.
