Born on February 12, 1934, in Košice, he made a significant mark in the climbing community by becoming the oldest person at the time to reach the summit of Mount Everest without the use of supplemental oxygen. His remarkable achievement highlighted both his climbing prowess and determination. Tragically, he passed away on October 16, 1984, on Mount Everest in Nepal, leaving behind a legacy in mountaineering.
