József Somogyi is a Hungarian geodesist and lecturer in photogrammetry, born on November 9, 1931, in Sopron. He trained as a surveying engineer in the 1950s and obtained his PhD at TU Budapest in 1968. After a research year in Canada, he became a member of GGRI and was later appointed a candidate by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Somogyi is still active as a researcher and has published around 90 scientific papers, focusing on measurement techniques, analytical photogrammetry, remote sensing, and applied statistics.
