Chu Sang-sŏng is a North Korean military officer and politician. He became a candidate member of the Workers' Party of Korea in 1970 and a full member in 1991. He rose through the ranks in the Korean People's Army, attaining the rank of colonel general in 1992 and general in 1997. In 2004, he was appointed Minister of People's Security and continued his role after the 2009 parliamentary elections in the cabinet of Prime Minister Kim Yong-il. As Minister of People's Security, he is also a member of the National Defense Commission.
