Juan Duarte Martín was a Spanish Catholic deacon and martyr born on March 17, 1912, in Yunquera. He was a student at the Diocesan Seminary of Málaga. During the Spanish Civil War, he was captured and tortured for refusing to renounce his faith. He was executed on November 15, 1936, and is recognized as one of the 20th-century Spanish martyrs. His remains were initially buried at the site of his martyrdom and later moved to Yunquera cemetery, eventually resting in the parish church.
