Juan Gonga Martínez was a Spanish Blessed of the Catholic Church born on March 25, 1912, in Carcagente. He joined Catholic Action after dreaming of becoming a priest, although illness hindered him. During the Spanish Civil War, he was arrested on July 25, 1936, but later escaped. He was re-arrested and executed, becoming a martyr for his faith. Pope John Paul II beatified him on March 11, 2001, as part of a group of martyrs who were victims of anti-Catholic persecution during the civil war.
