Juan Varela is a Spanish journalist, born on October 10, 1964, in Betanzos, A Coruña. He is the current director of Diari de Tarragona since September 15, 2016. Throughout his career, he has combined journalism with teaching and consulting for various media groups. He is also a regular contributor to multiple media outlets and the founder of the blog Periodistas 21, awarded as the Best Spanish Weblog in 2004. Varela has extensive experience in media design and has worked on launching several newspapers in Europe and Latin America.
