Jukka-Petteri Halme is a Finnish expert and enthusiast in science fiction and fantasy literature, and an active member of fandom. He co-founded the Finnish Tolkien Society in the early 1990s and has contributed reviews and articles to the Tähtivaeltaja magazine. He introduced the term 'uuskumma' as a translation for 'new weird' and edited the anthology 'Uuskummaa? Modernin fantasian antologia' in 2006. Halme served as chairman for Helsinki’s Finncons in 2006, 2009, and 2013 and as chairman of the Tähtifantasia Award jury.
