Jukka Tapani Laaksonen is a Finnish physicist and technology licentiate, specializing in nuclear energy and radiation safety. He served as the Director General of the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority of Finland from 1997 to 2012. Laaksonen has held various positions within the International Atomic Energy Agency and the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission. After retiring, he became the Deputy Head of Rosatom Overseas, focusing on the Hanhikivi nuclear power project. He is also a reserve lieutenant in the military and married to Vappu Viertola, with a daughter, Olympic medalist Emma Terho.
