Jukka Pekola is a professor of physics at the Department of Applied Physics, Aalto University. He leads the national Quantum Technology Research Unit and has served as an Academy Professor from 2000 to 2005 and again from 2014 to 2018. His research focuses on the thermodynamics of nanostructures, making him one of the leading researchers in the thermal properties of nanostructures globally. In 1992, he began working at the University of Jyväskylä, developing a nanotechnology laboratory and conducting related research.
