Jukka Salo is a Finnish zoologist and professor born on February 12, 1958, in Pori, Finland. He earned a PhD in animal ecology in 1988. Salo served as a professor of biodiversity research and environmental science at the University of Turku from 1995 to 2007 and as the head of the biology department from 1996 to 1998. Additionally, he was the director of Korkeasaari Zoo and has held visiting professor positions. He has served as an honorary consul of Peru and an expert in biodiversity treaties.
