He served as a deputy for three consecutive terms from 1998 to 2010 and was the President of the Chamber of Deputies from 2006 to 2010. Valentín was also a senator for the Santiago province for two terms from 2010 to 2020. He is known for advocating transparency and accountability in government, which have been central themes of his legislative initiatives.
