Julio Alberto Lagos was an Argentine military officer born on February 24, 1901, in Capital Federal, Buenos Aires. He served as the Commander in Chief of the Army from September 21, 1955, to June 5, 1956. A founding member of the nationalist GOU, he held multiple military posts, including Military Governor of Comodoro Rivadavia. Lagos played a key role in the 1955 coup against President Juan Domingo Perón. After his retirement in 1956, he held diplomatic roles in the United States and Spain and authored several books before passing away on October 11, 1975.
