Julius Koch was a German enologist and food chemist, born on February 28, 1912, in Frankfurt am Main. He led the Institute for Fruit and Vegetable Processing at the Geisenheim Research Institute until 1959 when he transferred the leadership to Karl Wucherpfennig. In the same year, he founded the Institute for Beverage Research GmbH with the help of Ludwig Eckes, creating a research and development center for continuous quality control in Nieder-Olm near Mainz. He passed away on July 2, 1991, in Eltville am Rhein.
