Jürgen Seeher is a notable German prehistorian born on May 22, 1953, in Aachen. He studied prehistoric and early history, ethnology, folklore, and quaternary geology from 1974 to 1983 at various universities in Germany. He earned his doctorate in 1983 for his research on Neolithic pottery. Seeher has been involved in significant archaeological projects in Turkey, including leading excavations at the Hittite capital of Ḫattuša from 1994 to 2005. He is a member of the German Oriental Society and received the Federal Cross of Merit for his contributions to archaeology in Turkey.
