Kewal Kishan Talwar is an esteemed Indian cardiologist and medical academic, born on April 30, 1946. He served as the chairman of the Medical Council of India and was the director of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER). Notably, he performed the first implantation of an Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (ICD) in South Asia and pioneered Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy in India. Talwar has received prestigious awards, including the B. C. Roy Award and the Padma Bhushan in 2006, recognizing his significant contributions to medicine. He currently chairs Cardiac Sciences at PSRI Hospital, New Delhi.
