K. Vijay Kumar is a retired Indian Police Service officer known for his role as chief of the Special Task Force in Tamil Nadu during the operation that led to the death of infamous bandit Veerappan in 2004. He has served as a senior advisor to the Home Ministry on Left Wing Extremism and has also been an advisor to the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, overseeing multiple portfolios. In December 2018, he rejoined as a senior security adviser in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
