Kalyan Singh was an Indian politician best known as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and served twice as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He held office during the significant and controversial Babri Masjid demolition in December 1992, which marked a pivotal moment in Indian politics. Singh's political career began in 1967 and included stints with several parties. He left the BJP to form his own party but returned later. Singh was appointed as the Governor of Rajasthan and was awarded the Padma Vibhushan posthumously.
