Kanchana Wijesekera is a Sri Lankan politician born on April 27, 1982. He serves as a member of parliament representing the Matara District. He is the son of Mahinda Wijesekara, a former Cabinet Minister. After the significant mass resignation of the Sri Lankan cabinet during the 2022 protests, he was appointed Minister of Power and Energy on April 18, 2022, by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. His political career is highlighted by his response to the recent political upheaval in Sri Lanka.
