Kanpei Shimoide is a Japanese politician born on February 16, 1941. He served as the mayor of Minamikyushu, Kagoshima Prefecture for two terms and was the mayor of Chiran for two terms. Shimoide began his political career as a member of the Chiran Town Council, serving five terms. He was first elected as mayor in 2001 and was re-elected in 2005. Following the merger of towns that formed Minamikyushu City, he became its first mayor after being elected without opposition in December 2007. He was re-elected in 2011, winning against a former city council chairman.
