Kao Chia-hung, born July 9, 1933, is a Taiwanese swimmer known for his specialization in short-distance freestyle events. Nicknamed 'The Eel of Bitan' and 'The Flying Fish of Alishan', he trained in Bitan and later studied in Japan. He represented Taiwan in the 1954 and 1958 Asian Games, earning a silver medal in the men's 100m freestyle in 1958, and a bronze in the 4x200m freestyle relay. During his time in Japan, he became involved in the Taiwanese independence movement, leading to his long stay there until he returned after martial law ended.
