Kao Kuang-chi is a Taiwanese politician and retired admiral of the Republic of China Navy, born on March 9, 1950. He served as the Minister of National Defense from 2015 to 2016, and was the acting Minister of National Defense beginning August 7, 2013, following the resignation of Andrew Yang. Kao was briefly the ROC Chief of the General Staff after his appointment on August 8, 2013. His tenure was marked by controversies, including the Boeing AH-64 Apache scandal, leading to his resignation attempt in April 2016, which was rejected by President Ma Ying-jeou.
