Kåre Virud, born on December 31, 1943, in Notodden, Norway, is a Norwegian blues musician, composer, and songwriter. He began his musical career in 1962 with the local rock band The Tornadoes and discovered the blues genre in Copenhagen in 1964, founding what is likely Norway's first blues band in 1965. Virud debuted in 1974 with the album 'Barbeinte engel' and was heavily influenced by Bob Dylan. He collaborated with Jan Erik Vold in the 1970s and formed the 'poesibluesbandet' Norsk Utflukt in 1991, releasing four albums between 1993 and 2004.
