Karel Veselý-Štainer was a Czech professional soldier and officer in the Czechoslovak Army, born on December 2, 1906, in Vienna. During the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, he actively participated in various anti-German resistance structures, including Obrana národa and Petiční výbor Věrni zůstaneme. He authored memoirs about the resistance movement. After World War II and the victorious February 1948, he was unlawfully imprisoned by the communist regime from 1949 to 1953 and was rehabilitated in 1965. He was sidelined from public life in the 1970s.
