Karen Heather Vousden is a British medical researcher born on July 19, 1957. She is renowned for her work on the tumor suppressor protein p53, particularly her discovery of the important regulatory role of the Mdm2 protein, which is considered an attractive target for anti-cancer agents. From 2003 to 2016, she served as the director of the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research in Glasgow, UK, and returned to London in 2016 to take on the role of chief scientist at Cancer Research UK and lead a team at the Francis Crick Institute.
