Karl Aru, originally Konstantin Karl Aru-Kaušinski, was a Soviet military officer born on May 30, 1902, in Tarva village, Estonia. He held the rank of major general in artillery. After World War II, he became known by the name Karl Aru in Estonia. He was recognized as an honorary citizen of Narva in 1974 and Velikije Luki in 1985. Aru passed away on February 28, 1994, in Tallinn, leaving a legacy as a prominent military figure in the Soviet Union.
