Karl Brändle was a Swiss pioneer in mountain cable cars, born on July 12, 1920, in Arbon and passing away on February 18, 2014, in Meilen. After becoming self-employed, he took over the competing company Sameli-Huber in 1953, which held the patent from ski lift inventor Ernst Constam. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, he constructed numerous ski and chair lifts across Switzerland and internationally, including the Masada cable car in Israel, the lowest cable car in the world, built in 1971. He sold his company in 1969 to Habegger AG and worked as a sales manager until retirement.
