Karl Neitzel was a German naval officer and U-boat commander during World War II. Born on January 30, 1901, in Kolberg, he joined the Reichsmarine in 1923 and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a Kapitänleutnant by 1935. He commanded U 510 and achieved significant successes, sinking several ships during his missions. In recognition of his service, he received the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross in 1943. Following the war, Neitzel was imprisoned as a POW, from which he was released on January 23, 1946.
